Starting this summer, NASA will stream live space events on Netflix, giving viewers a chance to watch rocket launches, spacewalks, and real-time views from space. The effort reflects NASA’s goal to make space exploration more accessible to people around the world.
Despite the Netflix partnership, NASA confirmed that these broadcasts will still be available for free and without ads through both the NASA+ app and its official website.
“We are dedicated to sharing our journey through space with as many people as possible, as outlined in the 1958 National Aeronautics and Space Act,” said Rebecca Sirmons, NASA+ General Manager, in a press release.
The collaboration arrives during a surge in activity within the space sector, particularly from private companies. In 2025, SpaceX has already completed 81 rocket launches, maintaining its position as a leader in the space industry. It remains the only American company currently certified to send astronauts to the International Space Station.
Netflix, with its global user base of over 700 million, is tapping into the rising interest in space travel and the growing frequency of commercial missions. Details of the agreement between NASA and Netflix have not been made public.
